Now that we are well into our election year and several Republican candidates are vying to run against me this November, it’s as important as ever that my team and I know you’re on our side.

So I’m reaching out today to ask you to add your name and personally endorse my re-election campaign for the United States Senate in Illinois.

But first, let me tell you a little bit about why I ran for Senate in the first place.

When I was a kid, the company my dad worked for was sold. He lost his job and my family was eventually forced onto public assistance programs. My brother and I relied on reduced-price meals at our public school and we used food stamps to put dinner on the table — until they ran out towards the end of the month. It was tough, and we probably wouldn’t have made it through without public support.

Those experiences shaped the person I am today, and motivated me to speak up on behalf of families like my own who need a little help to get by. And also to speak out against Republicans who want to slash critical safety net programs that families depend on.

Now, as a U.S. Senator, I am in a position to do more to ensure Washington makes good decisions that make life easier for working families.

I will continue to be an advocate for our working families in Washington — but in order to do that, I need your help to win my re-election campaign. So please:

Add your name as an official endorser of my campaign for United States Senate. This is as important as ever now that we are getting closer and closer to Election Day.
