GREATER GEORGIA TO HOLD
SECOND CONSUMER REGISTRATION EVENT
ATLANTA -- This Wednesday, Greater Georgia will hold a consumer registration event at the Adventure Outdoors sporting goods and gun store in Cobb County, to highlight Washington’s anti-Second Amendment agenda as well as the reckless spending that has driven up prices for guns, ammunition, and other outdoor sporting equipment amid historic crime across the country, including in metro Atlanta. This registration drive is the second installment of a broader registration campaign to mobilize Georgians at the point of sale and encourage them to take action by participating in the upcoming May primary and November general elections.
“The far-Left is putting Georgians last with inflation that’s making everything from groceries and gasoline, to guns and ammo more expensive - while pushing federal policies that limit our Second Amendment rights,” said former U.S. Senator and Greater Georgia Chairwoman Kelly Loeffler. “Greater Georgia’s latest registration event will help consumers push back against the anti-gun agenda - and empower them to take a stand by registering to vote and supporting pro-2A candidates.”
BACKGROUND
Earlier this year, Vista Outdoor, the leading U.S. manufacturer of ammunition, announced that the Left’s supply chain crisis had caused them to raise prices on ammunition, with ammo prices rising up to 8% for handguns and rifles and nearly 12% for shotguns. (Tyler Durden, “Ammunition Price Hikes Imminent as Commodity Prices Soar,” InvesBrain, 3/14/22)
The White House has actively worked to restrict 2nd Amendment rights by banning so-called “ghost guns,” attempting to pass red flag laws, and nominating a radical, anti-gun activist to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). (Michael Balsamo, “Biden to Nominate New ATF Director, Release Ghost Gun Rule,” Associated Press, 4/10/22; Tyler Olson, “Biden Announces Slate of Gun Control Actions, Claims ‘Public Health Crisis,'" Fox News, 4/8/21)
Meanwhile, liberal cities that worked overtime to defund local police departments are now experiencing historic crime rates. In Atlanta, which narrowly escaped a failed measure to defund its police department, homicides are up at least 43% this year while cases of rape are up 236%. (Audrey Conklin, “Homicides, Rapes in Atlanta Soar Despite Other Decreasing Violent Crime: ‘Feels like “Groundhog Day,'” Fox News, 2/21/22)
Georgia conservatives are standing up to repeated assaults on our 2nd Amendment rights. This month, Georgia passed Constitutional Carry, giving law-abiding citizens more freedom to preserve their right to self-defense.
