Dear John,

I am 86 years old. I have campaigned in every general election since 1959. The stakes have always been high. 

As a country, we have grappled with fundamental questions. What is our role in the world after WW2? How could we recover from the strikes and strife of the 1970s? 

But this election on December 12th is the most important of my lifetime. 

This election will decide whether or not we secure a People’s Vote, or we proceed with Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal.

Our nation’s prosperity, identity, and influence are on the ballot paper. The inheritance we pass on to the younger generation is on the ballot paper.
