John,

As governor, Andy is working to build a welcoming, compassionate, future-focused Kentucky. That's why he vetoed several pieces of harmful legislation passed by Republicans in the legislature, including:

  • An attempt to take critical funding away from our public schools and give it to private, unaccountable, for-profit charters;
  • Selfish pay raises for state legislators – including himself;
  • A ban on reproductive freedom so extreme that it doesn’t include protections for victims of rape and incest;
  • A mean-spirited attack on transgender kids;
  • And legislation that would quite literally take food off the table for our poorest kids and seniors.

Andy's vetoes were important to protect our progress, but last week, the Republican legislative majority voted to override these vetoes.

Republican legislators are once again proving they are putting partisan politics ahead of what's best for Kentuckians. While Andy is working to do right by all Kentuckians, Republicans are trying to take us backward and do wrong by our most vulnerable neighbors.

Last week's overrides by Republican legislators were a step in the wrong direction for our Commonwealth, but Andy is committed to continue fighting to build a Kentucky where all can live and thrive. Are you with him?

Chip in before our mid-month fundraising deadline to help Andy make progress for all Kentuckians.

Thanks,

Team Beshear
