They can't ignore this anymore!

Homelessness has been at crisis level in this district for years. City and county governments simply don't have the funding to take this problem on in any meaningful way. What have our Representative and Senators done to take on this problem? Not one damn thing! The people of Santa Rosa and the people of Vallejo and the people of Martinez and the rest of this district deserve someone who will lead on this issue, someone who cares about how living outdoors permanently affects the human body and the human mind.

Are we going to take care of our own people or are we simply going to look the other way as human beings fall through the cracks of this society? Representative Ilhan Omar has just introduced the Homes For All Act. The people of our district need this bill! And we need to prevent people who were able to scoop up tens of thousands of homes, in the crash of 2008, from buying any more homes. My opponent isn't taking this on. It might have something to do with more than $250,000 in donations from real estate companies and organizations.

When I am elected, I will make homelessness a priority. But I can't do it without you. We are trying to raise the last few hundred dollars for our filing fee, which we need to have in by December 6. So if you can pitch in 10 or 15 bucks to elect someone who knows what the problems are and wants to tackle them head on, it would be a very big help.

I was proud to stand in solidarity with the National Union of Healthcare Workers At Queen Of The Valley Hospital in Napa on Wednesday. Most of these folks haven't had a raise in three years. Many of them can't afford to live in Napa. And to make matters worse, their employer has been shifting the costs of their healthcare packages onto the workers, so their premiums have been going up while their wages have not. Paid sick days that were already earned have been taken away, not enough workers are in many departments at one time. And the CEO makes $11 million a year. And for their troubles for carrying out a one day strike, all of these workers have been locked out for 5 days, except the pharmacy technicians who are not easily replaced. This is at least the third strike at the Queen this year. This is not right.

I met with some Napa School District teachers that are teaching gardening in donated time after school. I connected with The School Garden Doctor last Earth Day, who asked me to connect with this group (this is the first time they've met since then) and begin speaking at school board meetings on their behalf. I am proud to have been asked to help, and have even offered to be a go between with the Farm Bureau.

I attended an over capacity meeting in Pinole, hosted by the Army Corp Of Engineers, regarding dredging a channel in the San Francisco Bay from east of Martinez to Stockton. This dredging will enable the Philips 66 Refinery in Rodeo to start bringing in tar sands oil by ship, which is the heaviest and dirtiest oil. Where is our representation in this? Not to be seen.

The good people at Open Vallejo have put together this chart, and I wanted to include their caption as well. It has been several months since a police violence town hall in Vallejo with special guests Representative Mike Thompson, State Senator Bill Dodd and Assembly Member Tim Grayson. All three have been aware of police violence issues for years. All three listened to the residents of Vallejo. All three took what they'd heard and did nothing. My opponent, just this week, has introduced a bill extending tax credits to renewable energy companies and helping wineries with some internet transparency issues. None of them have introduced a bill to make their constituents safer. Vallejo PD has some serious problems and no one in elected office is trying to implement any systemic reforms at all. No one. This is a disgrace and a shame.

Section 215 of the PATRIOT Act is set to expire on December 15 of this year. Mike Thompson voted in favor of the PATRIOT Act, in favor of the U.S. Freedom Act and in favor of Trump's FISA Authority Act.

ALL government officials are sworn to protect the Constitution, but our Congress has presided over an attack on our fourth amendment rights and is presiding over an attack on our first amendment rights right now, in the form of the persecution of journalists.

The PATRIOT Act is unconstitutional and should be repealed, but on December 15, it will be renewed and my opponent's name will be on that bill as a recorded "yes" vote. These egregious attacks on our constitutional rights must stop. But they're never going to stop until we vote out establishment officials.

According to section215.org, "The FBI and NSA use Section 215 of the USA PATRIOT Act to collect vast amounts of information about people in the United States without a warrant. In 2018, under only one of two Section 215 provisions, the government collected 434,238,543 call records. The vast majority of those records relate to people who are not the targets of any investigations or suspected of wrongdoing. The government can use Section 215 for many other purposes, including the collection of location information, medical information, and purchase records."
