John— We are running out of time. Rising sea levels are threatening to put millions of American homes in coastal areas underwater and have already started forcing some of the most vulnerable communities to relocate.

Taholah, the capital of the Quinault Indian Nation on Washington’s coast, is the perfect example. After decades of sea-level rise, more and more of its residents found themselves living in an increasingly dangerous flood zone.

So in 2017, the Quinault Tribal Council adopted a plan to relocate the lower section of the village about half-a-mile uphill in the next decade, making them one of the first communities in the US to voluntarily relocate from impending climate threats.

The climate migration crisis is no longer some far-off problem. We are seeing it happening right now.

John — If we don’t drastically reshape our energy and environmental policies to combat climate change meaningfully, we will continue to see more communities like Taholah be uprooted in the coming years. That’s why we’re working around the clock to support our SEEC members in Congress as they fight to save our planet. Will you pitch in a contribution to our efforts? [[link removed]]

It will only get worse if we don’t act now. According to a February report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, sea levels in coastal US cities could rise by an average of 10 to 12 inches in the next three decades. An estimated 13 million Americans could be forced to relocate inland by 2100 as a result.

And while this will be expensive, the cost of doing nothing will be far greater. Climate migration will cause significant economic, social, and political consequences. Now more than ever, it is critical that we elect as many pro-environment SEEC members to Congress as possible this November to find solutions to address the growing climate migration crisis. We hope you will consider making a donation to support our cause. [[link removed]]

Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
