I hope you were able to spend time with loved ones this holiday weekend. During this time of reflection and renewal, we are reminded of our responsibility to each other: to build a better America where workers have good paying jobs, where seniors and persons with disabilities live independently, where children can thrive, and where all people live in dignity.
Unfortunately, Republicans have attacked our American Safety Net - and are brazen about their plans to slash it if they win in November. If they were in power today - Tax Day - the average American working family would be paying $4500 MORE in taxes - while losing health care and other vital services.
But Democrats are not backing down from this fight: as we discuss on my Twitter feed Twitter.com/TeamPelosi, Democrats will stop Republicans from cutting Social Security, gutting Medicare and Medicaid, overturning the Affordable Care Act, and raising taxes on over half the American people.
