John,
This past weekend was a special convergence of holidays across religions – Ramadan continuing, Passover beginning, and Easter observed. Unfortunately, gun violence converged with the joy and left countless people dead and injured across the nation.
|
On Saturday,
- 14 people were injured at a shooting at a mall in South Carolina.
|
On Easter Sunday,
- Nine people were wounded in a shooting at a restaurant in South Carolina (the state’s second mass shooting in as many days);
- Two people were killed and eight injured at a party in Pittsburgh, PA;
- One person was killed and three injured in a shooting in Portland, OR

This is the reality of the United States: It does not matter how holy the day is or how we celebrate, gun violence will continue. It’s a deadly tradition all its own.
It doesn’t have to be like this, John. We have the power to end this violent epidemic and save lives – but we can only do it with our collective power. We need to fight together, so that the next time we gather together for holidays, we can feel joy free of tragedy.

Can you donate right now and be the gun violence prevention activist we so desperately need in this moment? To honor those we’ve lost and save those at risk, it’s up to us.

Enough.
