Hi John,
Over the weekend, we became aware of an issue with links in emails sent from Action Network to Gmail inboxes. Perfectly innocuous links were being flagged as suspicious and sometimes stripped from the email. This didn't affect all Gmail inboxes and didn't affect any other email providers. We are working hard with our email services to fix this for everyone.
As a first step, we have temporarily turned off email open tracking and link tracking for all links sent in Action Network emails. This is a short term measure that should allow you to send emails via Action Network without them being flagged as suspicious by Gmail.
We recommend setting up custom link branding, which is a best practice that should bypass issues like this. We won’t be able to fully implement custom link branding until we turn link tracking back on. Note that this is a complicated setup process that involves setting up security certificates for your domain. Learn more about setting up custom link branding here.
We are working with SendGrid and Gmail to resolve this issue. We do not have a timeline for resolution yet, but we will update the big yellow banner at the footer of the site that you see when you are logged in with further information. That is the best place for you to go to see the latest updates.
If you have any questions, please reach out to [email protected].
In Solidarity,
