,
Earlier this month, my office published a much-anticipated interim report on the 2020 election in Maricopa County, and what our investigation revealed should concern every Arizonan.
Our concerns about early ballots in 2020 were on the mark. Our report discovered that nearly 20% of early ballots - between 100,000-200,000 - were transported outside the chain of custody.
Further, on November 4, 2020, election workers had an average of 4.6 seconds to verify over 200,000 early ballot signatures. And lastly, ballot boxes were unmonitored and private grant money was being used to finance elections.
One thing is clear: there are problematic, system-wide issues relating to ballot handling and verification that need to be addressed. Our system, as it currently stands, is insufficient to guard against abuse and is vulnerable to error, fraud, and oversight.
I’ve been fighting for Arizona’s election integrity for years. I defended Arizona’s common-sense election laws against ballot harvesting before the Supreme Court — and won. When the former Maricopa County Recorder tried sending out hundreds of thousands of unrequested early ballots, I stopped him. I fought to clear the way for the Arizona Senate to conduct their election audit, and my investigation into the 2020 election has been the most thorough that any AG office has ever accomplished.
While other people talk, I act. No one has done more for election integrity than our office, and you don’t have to take my word for it, my record speaks for itself. I’m taking the insight I’ve had fighting on the ground for election integrity to the U.S. Senate, and I’m making sure the federal government keeps their hands off our elections.
I’m fighting for election integrity because it’s ultimately the states’ right and responsibility to conduct elections, and the health of our exceptional Republic depends on our fight to stop Washington from taking over our elections.
Mark Kelly is trying to scare us into handing over our elections to Washington and federalizing the process. When I’m Arizona’s senator, you can count on me to continue fighting against Washington’s power-grab attempts and fight for secure and honest elections.
For Arizona,
