On the Agenda: Inflation keeps climbing, despite promises from the Biden administration that it was just “transitory.” We look at what it’s costing families. We also show how the latest pork-laden spending bill adds gasoline to the inflation fire. Meanwhile, we reveal who’s paying the price for BLM’s “defund the police” efforts, and debunk media myths about parents’ bills of rights. Don’t miss the training program for new school board members, our Big Tech petition, podcasts, and more in the Agenda.
How Much Is ‘Bidenflation’ Costing You?
In the news: Inflation rates continue to reach historic milestones, with March showing an 8.5% jump. But what does this actually mean for you?

Why it matters: That pay raise you just got? With this rate of inflation, it’s probably more like a pay cut. The math shows that these increases in inflation are costing the average American family thousands of dollars in annual income.

Our take: “If President Biden and others are serious about helping working Americans, they need to take responsibility for the mess they created, cut government spending, and end the regulatory war on American energy production,” says Heritage research fellow E.J. Antoni.

8 Varieties of Rancid Pork in Latest Spending Bill
Fuel to the fire: Amid skyrocketing inflation rates, the government continues to make matters worse with insanely reckless spending. The latest example is the March “omnibus” bill to fund the government, which is chock-full of pork-barrel spending.

Our take: “Congress is doing this despite inflation raging out of control and a $30.4 trillion national debt because it thinks it will be to its political benefit. The only way to stop the madness is for the American public to prove it wrong,” writes Heritage policy analyst David Ditch.

Needed: A Parents’ Bill of Rights
Children are being targeted: Leftists have turned classrooms into spaces of condemnation, indoctrination, and inappropriate sexual exposure while trying to keep parents in the dark.

Fighting back: Lawmakers are proposing bills that would give parents more control over their children’s education and require schools to be transparent about curricula.

Fake news: “Despite rampant media mischaracterizations, parental bills of rights protect children from radical ideologies that conflict with their parents’ values,” write Lindsey Burke, the Mark A. Kolokotrones fellow in education and director of Heritage’s Center for Education Policy, and Jonathan Butcher, the Will Skillman fellow in education.

BLM Buys $6 Million Mansions While Blacks Suffer ‘Defund the Police’ Crime Wave
Crime crisis: Radical groups like Black Lives Matter have raised (and misspent <[link removed]>) millions of dollars advocating defund-the-police policies and soft-on-crime prosecutors. But guess who is harmed most by the resulting surge in crime?

The hard truth: “America witnessed much larger spikes in violent crime in 2020, especially homicide, than any of the previous 10 years,” writes legal fellow GianCarlo Canaparo and Heritage intern Abby Kassal. The data show that “African Americans bear an increasingly large share of the harm from crime.”
