Dear NRDC Action Fund Activist,

Most families are feeling some pain at the pump these days. I know mine
is.

Oil prices are all over the place, but the price we pay at the gas station
has remained high.

Big Oil CEOs are cynically exploiting Russia's violent and unjust invasion
of Ukraine to drive up fuel prices and pad their profits. And they're
using this moment to try to lock us into decades more dependence on the
dirty fuels driving the climate crisis, all while lobbying against clean
energy development.

But what they're really doing is underscoring the perils of our dependence
on fossil fuels.

[ [link removed] ]So this Earth Day, we're asking you to help us fight Big Oil, their
powerful lobbyists, and their allies in Congress, by making your
first $5 gift to the NRDC
Action Fund.

You and I know that the only lasting solution to sky-high gas prices is to
scale up clean energy immediately. And we're not alone: The majority of
American voters wants to end our dependence on fossil fuels.

That's why Big Oil is fighting hard to keep their friends in Congress
after November's midterm elections — and spending millions to do it.

Our job is to fight back like our future depends on it. Every seat we fill
with a climate champion is one less ally to do Big Oil's bidding.

We're ready for the fight — will you join us? [ [link removed] ]When you donate by this
Friday, April 22, your gift to the NRDC Action Fund will be MATCHED up to
$100,000. Even $5 will make a difference in this fight for
our climate.

Your donation will immediately power our work to:

* Advance historic clean energy legislation: We're advocating for a
package of strong policies that help people while energy prices are
high, accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy, and put the
oil and gas industry on the defensive.
* Sound the alarm about Big Oil's cynical schemes: We're getting the
facts out to as many people as we can using every tool at our disposal
— including running a national TV ad calling on Congress to break
America's fossil fuel addiction by advancing clean energy.
* Keep climate at the forefront in Washington: We're escalating pressure
on the Biden administration to accelerate our transition to a 100%
clean energy future and marshaling our resources to get environmental
champions elected in November.
* Train and mobilize volunteers to reach more voters: We're building on
the same volunteer electoral program that contacted 1.6 million voters
during the 2020 election to again reach voters in key states like
Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.
* Get more people to the polls: We've seen elections in our nation
decided by an impossibly small number of votes. We're laying the
foundation now to register and mobilize more voters in the closest,
most important Congressional and gubernatorial races.

This is a turning point for our country. Clean energy is better for our
health, our climate, our communities, and our economy. [ [link removed] ]Join us this
Earth Day to fight back against Big Oil, elect climate champions, and
usher in an equitable clean energy future for all.

Sincerely,
