THIS JUST IN: In a clear example of how opposition from PJI’s Center for Public Policy (PJI-CPP) rattles leftist bill sponsors, California Assembly Bill 1993 has been pulled from the committee—a huge step in the right direction!

AB 1993 demanded that all employers force all their employees and independent contractors to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination! PJI-CPP wrote an opposition letter to the California Assembly Committee on Labor and Employment examining the harmful impact of AB 1993. The following are some powerful excerpts from our opposition letter:
AB 1993 is at odds with the aims of the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), which it purports to amend. Rather than expanding worker rights . . . AB 1993 dramatically deprives employees of core decision-making and bargaining power related to their health. . . AB 1993 tramples on sacrosanct privacy protections guaranteed by the California Constitution. While paying lip service to privacy, the legislation seems oblivious to the implications of a half-century of privacy rights it would roll back.
AB 1993 is astoundingly unconstitutional. . . the Bill would force employers to violate their workers’ autonomy on a massive scale. . . For these and millions of other reasons—the number of employees whose rights it would violate—the Bill should be rejected.
PJI-CPP continues to monitor and oppose many other bills this year, including AB 2098, one of the most insidious threats to free speech we have ever seen. AB 2098 threatens to revoke the licenses of medical professionals who simply disagree with government orthodoxy on COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.
AB 2098 is irredeemably unconstitutional and will not survive a legal challenge if it becomes law. The only question is the number of taxpayer dollars that will have to be spent on government legal fees to defend this futile, overreaching legislative albatross. And in the meantime, all Californians will lose, as more and more highly qualified medical professionals will leave California to practice in freer states. AB 2098 sends a chilling message to frontline doctors who have battled COVID-19 that they are no longer welcome in California.
We are the only nonprofit legal defense ministry in America that is on the front end of harmful, scheming bills that should never have been introduced in the state legislature in the first place. And PJI-CPP also successfully assists state legislators across the U.S. in passing bills that benefit all Americans, not just left-wing special interests. And we do it all at no charge!
While these mentioned bills are in California, make no mistake – PJI is having similar successes in other states with our offices now in 17 states, literally coast-to-coast! No other legal organization has this kind of effective legal “ground game”. In addition to our more than 85 cases in court, we are all across the nation impacting legislatures on critical issues involving religious freedom, parental rights, and the sanctity of life. And, we never forget the critical role that people like you play in God’s grace to make such a huge difference in times such as these!
Consequently, would you consider a generous financial gift to PJI today?. Your support ensures our continued, vigilant fight in the legislative process. We are fighting for the rights of all Americans—not only in the courthouse, after their rights are trampled on, but also in the statehouse, before their rights are violated!
Thank you for your faithful support!
