John, moments like we saw this last week are why our work is critically important.
When Patrick Lyoya was executed by a police officer, and the Kent County DA handling the case is someone who interacts with the Grand Rapids Police Department every day.
That could lead to an extremely biased investigation, letting off the cop who murdered Patrick.
Unfortunately, this is all too common – and it’s why Real Justice is working everyday to elect accountable and civil rights-minded DAs and prosecutors.
But here’s the thing: we are currently running behind on our fundraising this month. This dictates just how much work we can do in order to provide strong support to DA candidates all over the country.
Our work isn’t just to give support with our words, it’s to throw down for every DA race we put our endorsement behind where we know there’s a real chance to win.
From mobilizing voters to fundraising directly for their races to ensure they have what they need to win, Real Justice understands the real work needed to get these accountable DAs elected.
But when we are strapped for cash for our own operations, we can’t give as much of that tangible support as we want.
That means more unchecked DAs letting off cops like the one who executed Patrick Lyoya, allowing them to stay on the streets as police.
Thank you for your support,
Real Justice
