I will not rest until our sacred right to vote is secure.

Folks, that is a promise that I intend to keep. The very foundation of our democracy is built on voting rights.

As a product of Selma, Alabama – and now as my hometown’s Congresswoman – I know all too well that many have fought and bled and died to protect our rights, and it’s on us to uphold and further their progress.

There is still much to do in the fight for voting rights, and I need to know if you’re with me. Will you take my campaign’s voting rights survey and let me know if you’re ready to fight for the right to vote?

For many, it’s become a challenge to even register to vote – and long lines and polling place closures are keeping folks from even reaching the ballot box.

State legislatures across the country have introduced over 400 bills to restrict the right to vote – and they’ll continue to pass laws to suppress voters of color, senior citizens, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups if we don’t take action.

Voter suppression is not an issue of the past. It is alive and well right now, and we have to do everything we can to stop it.

It doesn’t matter who you vote for or what your beliefs are, keeping even one eligible voter from the voting booth undermines our democracy. We have an opportunity right now to keep this from happening by passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which would reinstate many of the protections included in the original Voting Rights Act of 1965.

The right to vote is sacred. I’m ready to work my hardest to protect it, and I want you by my side while I do it. Will you take my survey to let me know how we win this fight?
