Friend,
As we celebrate National Park Week, LCV is committed to growing our nation’s parks system to ensure that we are safeguarding the diverse cultures and history of our country, protecting more public lands and waters, and expanding equitable access to the outdoors.
Simply put: we must protect more public lands.
The Biden-Harris administration has already committed to protecting 30 percent of U.S. lands and waters by 2030 – a goal that reflects what scientists around the world say is an essential component in dealing with climate change.
And we cannot waste a moment to reach this goal.
This National Park Week, take action and tell President Biden to use the Antiquities Act to designate new national monuments and preserve unique places like Avi Kwa Ame in Nevada and Castner Range in Texas for today and future generations.
Permanent protections for Avi Kwa Ame (the Mojave name for Spirit Mountain near the proposed monument) would preserve sacred Indigenous sites and biodiverse wildlife in the Mojave Desert. And for Castner Range, it would preserve significant ecological, geological, paleontological, and archaeological features and a cultural history that dates back 10,000 years. Both would help our country reach the goal of protecting 30% of our lands and waters by 2030.
Can you be one of the 5,000 people who speaks out in honor of National Park Week and tells the Biden administration to make Avi Kwa Ame and Castner Range our newest National Monuments?
President Biden can protect Avi Kwa Ame and Castner Range
right now using his authority under the Antiquities Act to designate national monuments, ensuring permanent protections and access to public lands for nearby communities and future generations.
Can you take action today?
Take Action: Can you be one of the 5,000 people who speaks out this week and tells the Biden administration we must take action now to protect Avi Kwa Ame and Castner Range?
Thank you for speaking up for protecting treasured lands this National Park Week!
