Hi John,

Miners at the Warrior Met Coal Mine have been on strike for a YEAR.

Can you donate here to help feed their kids and keep the lights on? [[link removed]]

Some of these miners have had to pick up work at an Amazon warehouse. (Incidentally, that warehouse has been trying to unionize for over a year.)

Why have the miners been on strike for a year? Because to save the mine from bankruptcy a few years ago, they agreed to a temporary reduction of wages and benefits and loss of their pensions. But those wages, benefits, and pensions never came back. The company, Warrior Met, broke its promise.

Since then, Labor Notes reports that “the union calculates that workers have forked over $1.1 billion in pay, overtime, vacation, safety, health care, and other benefits.”

The largest shareholder in Warrior Met is BlackRock, the largest private equity firm in the US. (This is the same BlackRock that made the news for buying up every single-family home they could find for 20-50% above asking price, pricing out regular buyers.)

Somehow BlackRock has the money to pay its CEO $30 million a year but it can’t afford to pay its miners a living wage and pensions? I don’t think so.

Corporate greed is running rampant in our country, and I’m running for Congress to fight back against it. One way YOU can help fight back right now is by giving to the miners’ strike fund:

I will send 100% of your donation to the strike fund, just like Bernie Sanders does when he raises money for striking workers.

Thank you for standing in solidarity with these workers ✊
