Team, A recent report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warned that unless we increase efforts to cut emissions from coal, oil, and natural gas globally – we are on track toward an unlivable world: The report underscores what many scientists have been warning us for decades: We need to do more. Current policies are only expected to reduce global emissions by a few percentage points this decade – and the report drives this point home: this is not enough to meet the severity of the moment.
The report offers a grim warning about our climate. It also expresses hope for the future – we have the tools to do something about this now. But we must act quickly. From flood damages to wildfires, droughts, and other climate-related disasters, the cost of inaction is substantial, and we are already seeing all of this play out year after year.
