While we may have the technology, the report also emphasized that the biggest barrier to meaningful climate action is something that can unfortunately be in short supply: “political will.”
John,
Depending on how you look at it, this latest development out of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is great news.
It claims that we do have the technology and logistical ability to stop climate change.
But as with everything these days, that good news came with a caveat. Because while we may have the technology, the report also emphasized that the biggest barrier to meaningful climate action is something that can unfortunately be in short supply: "political will."
No doubt, drumming up support for actionable policy on climate is a difficult task. But nonetheless, it’s a win for our earth to know we do currently possess the means to fight climate change and mitigate its worst impacts. All we need now is the votes to get these methods and technologies moving forward and implemented where they are most effective.
And — even better news — SEEC members are working in Congress every single day to do just that. Working alongside advocates, other members of Congress, and the Biden Administration, SEEC members are chipping away at resistance and developing real solutions to the climate crisis.
SEEC members know that political will is a big part of what’s standing in our way. That’s why they’re fighting in Congress, urging action on climate. But to strengthen their hand and show their colleagues that the political will to tackle climate change does exist amongst the American people, they’re in need of your support, John.
Thanks to your help in 2020, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration. But if you'd like to receive fewer emails, we understand. You can click here to only get our most important messages, or you can unsubscribe.
