John,
There are two tax codes in America. The first is mandatory for workers who pay taxes out of every paycheck. The second is voluntary for billionaires who defer paying taxes for decades, if not indefinitely.
That’s why I’ve introduced a Billionaires Income Tax to fix our broken tax code and finally make billionaires pay taxes every year. Already, more than 80,000 people have signed-on as grassroots co-signers of this critical legislation. Help us reach 100,000 signers!

Since the pandemic began two years ago, America’s 740 billionaires have seen their wealth skyrocket by $2 trillion, or 70%.[1] But, because this increase in wealth isn’t recognized as income, billionaires can game the system to delay or avoid paying federal income taxes entirely.
It’s time to fix our broken tax code and tax wealth like work. When we do, we can invest in critical programs for working families, children, and seniors.
Click here to tell Congress to pass a Billionaires Income Tax now so America’s billionaires start paying taxes each year, just like the rest of us!
The Americans for Tax Fairness Action Fund coalition is leading the fight to get this historic legislation across the finish line, and I thank them—and you—for all the hard work going into this critical grassroots movement. Right now, Congress has an opportunity to make significant progress as Senate legislation is being crafted to lower prescription drug costs, make healthcare more affordable, and invest in clean energy to combat the climate crisis―paid for by making sure the rich and wealthy corporations pay a fairer share of taxes.
Together, we have a major opportunity with the Billionaires Income Tax to begin to restore fairness to our tax code, and fund critical investments in American families. But we can’t do it without your help.
Thank you for joining me in this important fight.
Sen. Ron Wyden
Chair, U.S. Senate Committee on Finance
