I just earned the 2022 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate Distinction!

This signals my advocacy for gun violence prevention and commitment to governing with gun safety in mind to voters *and* donors. My team and I are proud to be on MDA’s list, and this week I’ve reflected a lot on why this fight means so much to me personally.

In the eighth grade, I lost a friend to gun violence. I remember being so frustrated watching adults argue about politics and policy that went over my head when I was feeling heartbroken and scared.

Families and friends of victims deserve to feel seen -- and not like some political pawns in a conversation that is too little too late for your family.

My husband and I are gun owners - I believe in the Second Amendment. I also believe that guns need to be stored safely, and that we should keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people.

Gun violence changes people’s lives forever. And we can’t continue to fail our kids and communities by not implementing solutions that protect rights AND keep people safe.

If you are someone who’s been impacted by gun violence, I am so incredibly sorry, and I see you. There are no words that can fix that. But I want you to know that as the next Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas, I will *never* stop advocating for better public safety measures.
