Your Options on Options ([link removed])

** Wednesday 4/20 | 8pm ET
Digital Event
------------------------------------------------------------

What does it mean for a book to have an “option”? How do you translate Hollywood legalese? What rates do a studio or production company typically offer to an author whose material they’re purchasing the rights to? How long does it take for a deal to go from a draft to an executed contract? You have representation—a lawyer, maybe an agent—but what are the roles they play in putting this arrangement together and what red flags can they help you recognize? To shine a light on these questions and more, join us for this insightful discussion. Learn more and register here ›› ([link removed])

A Citywide Poetic Celebration of Earth Day ([link removed])

** Friday 4/22 | 4pm - 7pm ET
Citywide
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]

In partnership with Ars Poetica and PEN America, the NYC Literary Action Coalition will host a citywide literary celebration of Earth Day. The Coalition will send Ars Poetica poets with their typewriters to independent bookstores across the five boroughs to type poems for patrons and community members about Earth Day. New Yorkers across the city will have the opportunity to chat with poets about their biggest inspirations from the natural world, their fears about the climate crisis, and their dreams for a more environmentally conscious New York City. Each person will receive a free personalized poem as a symbol of their investment in creating a more sustainable and just New York City.

Join us in this celebration at any of the following independent bookstores: Astoria Bookshop (Queens), Bronx Bound Books – Montefiore Hospital (The Bronx), Every Thing Goes Book Cafe and Neighborhood Stage (Staten Island), Quimby’s Bookstore NYC (Brooklyn), Word Up Community Bookshop (Uptown Manhattan), Yu and Me Books (Downtown Manhattan).
