Join a picket!

Hi,

“I couldn't do this for myself, but I love my fellow workers and I would do anything for them. So we're organizing and I'm standing up with them”

“Stop firing us”

“Fighting for a union is the only way that we can make sure that we're protected”

Were the sentiments and demands expressed by Starbucks workers on the picket lines of 2 historic strikes at the 5th and Pike and Eastlake stores over unfair labor practices and union-busting by Starbucks.

Starting at 6am Seattle DSA members joined the picket lines and marched, chanted, passed out fliers to community members, brought rations and coffee, and talked with Starbucks workers at both locations. We were joined by union members, community members and support flooded in in the form of donations to the PNW Starbucks Workers Relief fund to the tune of nearly $4,000 in 24 hours!  Please donate $15, $50 or $100 today to support striking Starbucks workers to be able to stay on the picket line and still pay their rent.

Follow @VentiSolidarity to get updates on the strike, meet the striking workers, and learn how to get active with the Starbucks Worker Solidarity Campaign!

But more help is needed.  Starbucks made $4 billion in profits in 2021 and will do whatever it takes to maintain its freedom to maximize the exploitation of its workforce, to maximize its profits.  Understaffing is profitable. Lowering hours to avoid providing healthcare is profitable. Defeating unionization efforts through intimidation and firings is profitable. Because when it comes down to it, Starbucks isn’t in the business of making coffee - its in the business of making profits.  And anything that stands in the way of that, needs to be crushed.

The STRIKE will continue tomorrow, Saturday, and on Sunday at the 5th and Pike location starting at 9am on both days.  The Eastlake strike was a one day strike and ended today, Friday. Please RSVP here for the 5th and Pike picket line.

Join us at Cal Anderson Park, this Saturday, April 16 at 4pm.  Please RSVP or just show up! We’ll hear from striking Starbucks workers, Stephanie Gallardo and then we'll plaster the town with these solidarity posters:
