Dear Friend,

Thank you again for joining the Immigration Equality family. Your support is critical to winning life-saving victories for our clients. We recently celebrated 1000 victories securing legal status for LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrants, and continue to win more cases every day. Our clients are kind, brave, and resilient people fleeing violence and abuse because of who they are or whom they love. They come from around the world to the United States seeking a safe place to call home.

I wanted to share a remarkable thank you note from Denise Chambers, a transgender woman from Trinidad who waited five years to win asylum. Since winning her case, we helped Denise secure her green card and she has remained an active member of the Immigration Equality community, serving as a powerful advocate and participating in our
LGBTQ New Americans oral history project and the Free To Be Me photo exhibit.

With your support, we will keep fighting for people like Denise.

Yours Sincerely,

Aaron C. Morris
Executive Director, Immigration Equality

Dear Friend,

I’m writing to thank some very special people who helped me win asylum on October 21, 2014 almost five years after it all began: Aaron C. Morris and the entire staff at Immigration Equality.

You are a force to be reckoned with.

The moment we met, you told me that the task ahead would not be easy, but that with diligence, truth, patience, and time, we could accomplish what seemed impossible.

I am now forever in your debt and I will do everything in my power to let the world know about your hard work and dedication.

To everyone at Immigration Equality who in one way or another has contributed to the success of so many of us transgender women and gay people, I say on behalf of us, “Thank you!”

In a good book, we yearn to discover what happens in the next chapter, and we anticipate the end of one chapter as we delve into another. During my five years of waiting for a grant of asylum, this was not always the case. There were times when I dreaded what was to come.

But now, thanks to the support of Immigration Equality, I cannot wait to begin this new chapter.

I say again… Thank you, and God's blessings to you all,

Denise Chambers
Asylum winner from Trinidad
