Chag Pesach Sameach.

This evening is the beginning of Passover, one of the most important holidays of the year for Jews around the world. As the first Latina Jew elected to the Florida Senate, this is important to me, John. And I hope you’ll give me a minute to talk about why:

First: One of the most important parts of celebrating Passover is to celebrate it with your family and your community. We teach stories to our children to remind them of who they are and where they come from — no matter where they live today — and to teach them the values of strength and triumph over adversity that we hold dear.

Second: While we face an uncertain future, these teachings remain true and the message of Passover is unchanged. This campaign has always been about fighting for the most vulnerable members of our community, and today more than ever, I am reminded of that mission.

I approach everything as a mother, I have celebrated Passover with my daughter every year of her life. And as I run for Governor of Florida and fight for my daughter’s future, I am reminded every day how important this mission truly is.

Whether you celebrate or not, I hope you find a moment to reflect with friends and loved ones.
