I have some bad news, John. This morning, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against us in our critical religious liberty lawsuit against the United States Capitol Police Board.
For the second year in a row, Reverend Pat Mahoney and his faithful parishioners have been DENIED their constitutional right to pray and worship outside the U.S. Capitol building.
While our team of attorneys at the Center for American Liberty are exploring every possible way to correct this gross injustice, I have one more small favor to ask you…
It’s truly a dark day in our country when people of faith are denied the right to pray together, peacefully, outside the U.S. Capitol…
…especially since several others have been granted permits for secular expression, over the past several months, on the exact same grassy area.
Make no mistake about it, this is a content-based form of discrimination, and it is unconstitutional.
And even though Rev. Mahoney won’t be hosting a large public event this Good Friday, he’s not giving up.
When I heard from him this morning, he was on his way to Washington, D.C. to pray.
He’s praying a special prayer of thanksgiving to God on this Easter weekend.
He is praying for our political leaders – that they find the strength, compassion, and common-sense to stand up for the values of freedom and liberty.
He’s praying that the evil forces dividing us across political, social, and geographical lines are soon vanquished by God’s grace and glory.
He’s praying that our nation will once again embrace human rights, justice, and equality for all.
Considering everything that is happening both overseas and domestically, we know prayer is needed more now than perhaps ever before.
Will you join Rev. Mahoney in prayer by signing our GOOD FRIDAY PRAYER CARD on this holy day? Sincerely, Mark Trammell Center for American Liberty Please consider supporting our efforts to defend our Constitution with a donation today.
