Hey Swing Left
My name is Molly, and I’m the College Network Program Manager at Swing Left! My job, in a nutshell, is to help students get involved in politics (it’s pretty cool 😎).
College students could be key to winning in 2020—their participation in elections doubled between 2014 and 2018—but their turnout at the polls was still really low compared to older voters. What’s the best way to get them to vote? Other college students!
There are two ways students can mobilize their campus with Swing Left:
- By applying to the Swing Left College Fellowship to learn leadership and organizing skills that will help defeat Trump and the GOP in 2020. (Applications are due January 13th; read on for details!)
- By joining the Swing Left College Network, if they’re already active in a campus group or have graduated from the Fellowship, and are looking to bring their organizing skills to the next level. (Details below!)
Over 300 students from a range of backgrounds have gained the skills, support, and tools to make a difference through Swing Left’s College Programs. If you know a student who wants to get involved in the 2020 elections, forward them this email and encourage them to apply!
Through our 3-month College Fellowship, every fellow will receive expert training in effective organizing tactics that help win elections. They’ll learn to mobilize students in person and online, build their campus group, and promote and host events. This program is open to any 2- or 4-year student currently enrolled in a community college or university.
And now, we’ve created a long-term organizing home for college students who want to be a part of the ongoing grassroots campaign: The Swing Left College Network! If your college student already has a group on campus, or has graduated from our Fellowship program, they can participate in our new College Network program. We’ll give them strategy, training, and tools to take their 2020 work to the next level and provide flexible support to make sure their group is as effective as possible.
Democrats can win in 2020, but only if we all do our part. If you know a young person who wants to make the greatest impact they can on the 2020 elections, Swing Left has a program for them. Send them this email and encourage them to apply to Swing Left's College Programs today—applications for the Fellowship are due by January 13th!
Thanks,
Molly Salavantis
