Friend, clean water is a human right.
That’s the ethos that guides the work and mission we share … and that’s why Waterkeeper Alliance is a global movement that spans continents and hemispheres.
In honor of Earth Day next week, we’re spotlighting the amazing work of Waterkeepers from all around the world, who are demanding drinkable, fishable, swimmable waters, and winning real progress.
I hope you’ll take a moment now to celebrate and learn about their incredible work:

Waterkeepers Bahamas is working to institute a lasting ban on oil drilling off their pristine coasts. These amazing groups refuse to let Bahamians become climate victims, or their beautiful country become a fossil fuel colony for investors.

Senegal’s Bargny Coast Waterkeeper is waging their campaign against the looming threat of continued fossil fuel development and offshore drilling.

In Nepal, the Karnali River Waterkeeper is actively opposing a proposed 900-megawatt dam in an effort to preserve the Karnali river, the last free-flowing river in the nation.

In Mexico, La Paz Waterkeeper, Mayan children, and other groups are working to stop a massive industrial hog facility in the Yucatán Peninsula and to protect their right to a healthy environment and autonomy as an Indigenous people.
This work may span continents, but a common thread weaves it together: that clean water must be defended and protected, at every turn.
It’s our honor to support this global work and stand with these, and every Waterkeeper chapter working for a safer future.
And Friend, I hope their work makes you as proud as it makes me.
In solidarity,
Lori

Everywhere we work, we’re up against the same forces: powerful special interests that have a vested interest in weak clean water laws — and that find receptive ears in halls of power. We’re asking you to ACT in honor of Earth Day with a gift that defends clean water everywhere, for everyone. Please, if you agree that Clean Water is a Human Right, make your gift now → ([link removed])
