Hi there, can I quickly explain something?

Back in 2010, I was representing Wisconsin’s second Congressional district in the House. Democrats had the House majority, a filibuster-proof 60-member majority in the Senate, and President Obama in the White House. But then something happened... folks began to tune out.

That November, fewer people turned out to the polls. Democrats lost six Senate seats and 63 seats in the House. We wouldn’t regain the majority of both houses of Congress for another decade.

Mitch McConnell turned the Senate into a legislative graveyard — refusing to work with Democrats and causing years of right-wing gridlock. Now, he’s counting on this happening all over again.

So far this election cycle, Senate Republicans have raised more than $140 million ( yes, $140,000,000 ) to reclaim the Senate majority this November and bring all of our progress to a stop. We can’t let them.

Now folks, I’m not telling you this to scare you. But with so much work still ahead, from protecting the right to vote to addressing the climate crisis, I want to know that we did everything we could to protect our Democratic majorities and continue making progress for working families. So I have to ask:

Will you make a contribution ahead of our mid-month fundraising deadline tonight to power our campaign’s work to protect our Democratic majorities in Washington? We cannot afford to hand the gavel back over to Mitch McConnell.
