Hello, team, once again, Republicans have used our district for a failed election stunt.

Gov. Greg Abbott’s orders that require extra inspections of commercial trucks along the border have caused back-ups, slowdowns, and disruptions across our district, the state, and the country.

Our ports of entry along the Texas-Mexico border are vital — to the nation and to our local economies.

This disastrous policy was just the latest example of Texas republicans like Abbott using our district as a prop to further their own political agenda and leaving ordinary Texans like us to pay the price.   

It’s time we hold the GOP accountable for these kinds of pointless stunts by demanding real, meaningful change, and voting Republicans, from Greg Abbott to Tony Gonzales, out of office this year.

It’s way past time that Texas had some real leadership from our elected officials. Leadership who will look out for the interests of the people, not just their own bank accounts and re-election prospects. 

Texas Republicans have shown us time and time again who they are — this latest stunt at the border is only the latest piece in a mountain of evidence that politicians like Abbott and Gonzales do not have our communities’ best interests at heart.
