Election Integrity Governor Whitmer Vetoes Election Integrity Legislation Governor Whitmer has struck down two bills designed to verify the identity of Michigan voters and keep elections secure. One requires confirmation of a voter's birthdate in the event that their registration does not already have that information. The other requires citizens who haven't voted since 2000 to confirm their address. This would confirm the identity of about 300,000 people. Governor Whitmer Asks Court to Create Right to Abortion Governor Whitmer recently asked the Michigan Supreme Court to strike down a 1931 law prohibiting abortion by declaring it unconstitutional. Planned Parenthood filed a similar lawsuit in another Michigan court. Attorney General Dana Nessel said she would not enforce the 1931 law should Roe v. Wade be overturned. Whitmer's attempt to use the courts to get her way is a blatant infringement on the separation of powers that our founding fathers established to prevent corruption in our government. Nessel's actions show that she's unwilling to do her job in enforcing Michigan's laws when they protect the lives of unborn children. This all comes in the midst of a ballot initiative to enshrine abortion into Michigan law in the upcoming November election. Click here to read more. Florida and Kentucky Approve 15-Week Abortion Bans Florida's Senate passed a 15-week abortion ban early last month 23-15. Yesterday, Gov. DeSantis signed it into law. "This will represent the most significant protections for life that have been enacted in this state in a generation," DeSantis said. Click here to read more. The Kentucky State Legislature has overridden Gov. Andy Beshear's veto of a similar prolife law banning abortion at 15 weeks. Included in this bill are restrictions on abortion pills.
