John –

Every day a new headline or article explains what I’m about to say: our
country is experiencing a wave of hatred towards the LGBTQ community and
Republican-controlled states are leading the way.

From Florida to Ohio, state after state is working to outlaw schools from
discussing topics of gender identity or sexual orientation.

With Ron DeSantis and his Republican counterparts across the country
continuing to attack the LGBTQ community, telling teachers and students
“Don’t Say Gay,” It’s critical we stand together to protect the LGBTQ
community.

force all federally funded schools to follow federal civil rights law,
including Title IX's protections against discrimination based on sexual
orientation and gender identity.

According to NPR, following the lead of the anti-LGBTQ Florida
politicians, 12 additional states now have their own homophobic bills
popping up.

Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, South Carolina, Missouri,
Indiana Kentucky, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Ohio are working to pass their
own versions of don’t say gay laws that would prevent discussions on
sexual orientation and gender identity or ban books from school libraries
that “normalize, support, or address lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, or
transgender issues.”

The problem is clear, Republicans’ homophobic attacks will continue having
major consequences-- if we don't fight back.

Already teachers are quitting and students are fearful to speak about
their families for fear of retaliation. We must stand with the LGBTQ
community.

force all federally funded schools to follow federal civil rights law,
including Title IX's protections against discrimination based on sexual
orientation and gender identity.
