Dear Higb,

First off, Brooklyn Young Democrats would like to wish a happy Pesach and Easter to all those who celebrate, and an easy fast for those observing Ramadan. We hope you have a joyful and restorative holiday.

We wanted to make sure you saw some disturbing news that came out last night. Yesterday evening, the news outlet The City reported ([link removed]) that the Brooklyn Democratic Party submitted paperwork with multiple forged signatures to the city Board of Elections in an effort to knock Democrats of the June primary ballot.

If you been following Brooklyn politics the last few years, this news is deeply upsetting, but not surprising. This move is just the latest in a longstanding effort by the party to push out critics and stifle the voices of everyday Brooklynites. Party leadership has gone so far as to try to stamp out BYD itself ([link removed]) .

The District Leader and County Committee candidates being challenged by party leadership come from a diverse set of backgrounds and neighborhoods. But all of them are running because they want a transparent and open Democratic Party that fights for a better future for Brooklyn Instead of embracing that vision, party leadership has engaged in an underhanded attempt to limit participation by knocking candidates off the ballot.

If you believe Brooklyn deserves a Democratic Party that is actually democratic, we encourage you to join us and other local political clubs that are backing the "Brooklyn Can't Wait" slate of District Leader candidates ([link removed]) . which is​​ committed to creating a party that respects, empowers, and includes all Brooklynites.
