As we begin the Passover holiday tonight night, let me take this moment to wish all my friends in the Jewish Community a Chag Kasher V'sameach.   

In the Torah, Passover is called the Holiday of Liberty. As Americans, we know that liberty is something that can never be taken for granted. We know that liberty requires us all to work toward the common good. It requires an investment and a shared sense of purpose.  

As Jews sit around the Passover Seder table and seek the blessings of liberty, may we all take a moment to reflect on what unites us as New Yorkers and as Americans.
