Here are a few numbers you may have seen kicked around in the news this week, John:
$31 million: Kevin McCarthy’s first-quarter fundraising haul, breaking his own personal record for the most ever by a House Republican.
$37.5 million: How much money the Congressional Leadership Fund — that’s House Republicans’ officially-branded dark money Super PAC — raised in the same timeframe.
Well here’s another.
$23.45. That was the average donation to our campaign. Not millions, but single dollars. How do you like that?
That last number is the most important to me. It never ceases to amaze and inspire me. It represents the hard work, grit, and determination of this grassroots team. And it reaffirms my belief that not only do the majority of Americans believe our country can do more to ensure everyone has the opportunity to succeed, but it also shows that you’re willing to fight for it too.
While the GOP often makes it seem otherwise, it’s not too much to ask that our government and our economy work for everyone, and not just the wealthy few at the top. Or that workers deserve fair wages and a seat at the bargaining table. Or that we support reproductive rights, climate solutions, and protecting our democracy, which the majority of Americans also support.
With the partisan gridlock and division in Congress, sometimes these reforms feel more like a pipedream than a reality — but they are possible AND they are well within our reach. All we need to do is protect and expand our Democratic majorities in the upcoming midterm elections.
John, can you make a donation of $23.45 or any amount you decide to my re-election campaign right now? We’ll put it to work, fueling our fight for legislative progress and helping my Democratic colleagues get elected nationwide.

Thank you for everything you do. It means more than you know.
