Changes to the Highway Code

Changes to the Highway Code came into force on 29 January. For the official updates, please find them here.

Updates on mobile phone use

From Friday 25 March rules in The Highway Code came into force making any hand-held use of a mobile phone while driving illegal, except in limited circumstances. See the updates here.

📢 Welcome to Nottingham Contactless! 📢

This week Nottingham rolled out the first Oyster-style contactless ticketing system in the country outside of London, Nottingham Contactless!

The new Tap & Go option is available across Nottingham City Transport buses, Linkbuses operated by CT4N and NET trams. You can tap on with contactless bank cards or phones throughout the day and only pay one adult daily charge capped at the best fare for their travel. Read more about it here!

We advise that you continue to wear face coverings (unless exempt) on public transport and in other indoor spaces. If you travel, follow the safer travel guidance.

Bus services🚌

EASTER WEEKEND SERVICES: Please check timetables and service updates before you travel this Easter Weekend. 

There will be some disruption over the next three to four weeks to some of our older real time signs at bus stops, while we migrate these signs to a new transmitter. For live bus times, please check directly with your local operator. We apologise for any inconvenience.

CrossCountry: There is some disruption to services. Check CrossCountry's website for the latest information.

EMR: Engineering works will cause some disruption to services travelling between Liverpool Lime Street and Nottingham/Norwich over Easter Weekend. Services are expected to be busy. Please check your journey on EMR's website before travelling.  

Please check with your local operator before travelling for the latest information.

All operators in the city continue to clean vehicles thoroughly on a regular basis, and windows on buses will be kept open for ventilation.

  • Carry hand sanitizer with you to use regularly
  • Plan ahead - avoid peak hours and routes

Temporary signals and lane closures for works to upgrade the signalised junction. Lane closures will be restricted to off-peak working to reduce impact on rush hour traffic. Find out more here.

Monday 21 February 2022 - Wednesday 31 August 2022: Silverdale roundabout
Lane closures on Silverdale roundabout and approaches from the A52 and A453 for National Highways junction improvements. More detailed information on National Highways website.

Monday 21 March 2022 - Spring 2022: Church Street and Lincoln Street from Basford Road to David Lane
Road closure for cycle and pedestrian improvements. The next phase of the project proposed is Church Street and Lincoln Street from Basford Road to David Lane. Construction is likely to take place in two phases split by Cowley Street. Visit our webpage.
