The Washington Post laid out why we have a state-based organizing approach: "Activists fighting what they view as unfair drawing of district lines said they now must intensify their strategy."
The Washington Post: Redistricting activists brace for wall of inaction as battle moves to states
The article outlines exactly what we're up against. The Supreme Court decided partisan gerrymanders are beyond the reach of federal courts. That decision "opened the door to a patchwork of outcomes in different states."
Long story short, we can't trust the process will just yield fair maps. We need to fight for them. And the fight will look different in every state. That's why we're asking you to invest in this fight by donating to our state-specific organizing fund.

As AG Holder was quoted as saying in the article, we're now going to have to go state by state to protect people's voting rights. With your help and investment, we can empower grassroots activists to overcome the obstacles to fair maps.
