Right now, the United States is the most dangerous place to give birth in the developed world, with major racial disparities where Black women lose their lives at 3 to 4 times more than the rate of white women due to maternity-related causes, independent of age, economic background, or education, This is a fact that has not changed for several decades and COVID-19 added another dimension of complications escalating the crisis.
60% of maternal deaths can be prevented and infant mortality reduced with investment in public policies and culturally competent care. Celebrate Black Maternal Health Week by calling on your Senator to support critical investments in Black maternal health.

Nearly four out of five U.S. mothers start out breastfeeding, but less than half are still breastfeeding at six months postpartum. One of the main causes for the drop-off in breastfeeding rates is the lack of break time and a private place to pump in the workplace.
Send a quick message urging the Senate to pass the PUMP Act to support breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and working parents!

Sign Now: Keep Families safe at home and in the workplace, urge Congress to fund paid sick days and paid family leave
Your Action Status: NOT YET SIGNED -> Sign Now
Reinstating emergency paid sick days and paid family and medical leave will help workers who need to take paid leave and miss work due to COVID-19 or to provide care for a loved one who has COVID-19. Paid leave is a vital tool to combat the spread of COVID-19 and future variants, it helps boost workplace morale and leads to increased productivity and, importantly, workforce retention.
Millions of moms and parents have been forced out of the workforce because of deficient policies and an inadequate care infrastructure. Emergency paid sick days and paid family leave will allow families to deal with COVID-19 related matters while maintaining their financial security and engaging in their caregiving responsibilities.
Sign now and ask members of Congress to prioritize families and fund emergency paid sick days and paid family and medical leave.
Quick signature: Tell Congress to expand access to health care!

Everyone, regardless of race, class, or zip code, deserves to have health care coverage. But even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, when the need for health care coverage has been made even more apparent, there are still 12 states that have refused to expand Medicaid to low-income adults under the ACA.
Closing the unfair coverage gap is important to help end discrimination in health care coverage: Right now, the majority of the over 2 million people who are currently in this “coverage gap” are people of color. The uninsured rates among Black and Latinx/Hispanic adults remains disproportionately higher than that of white adults, especially in these states.
