It’s unconscionable that Republican Senators are blocking the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA).

Native women are disproportionately targeted when it comes to gender-based violence, and as National Native American Heritage Month draws to a close, it’s even more shameful that the GOP-led Senate is refusing to even vote on this bill.

Survivors of gender-based violence deserve more than our compassion – they deserve to be actively protected from their abusers. A bill that does anything less is inadequate.
