3. Florida $15 Minimum Wage Initiative to appear on 2020 ballot

The measure, which will appear on the ballot as Amendment 2, would increase the minimum wage to $10 per hour on September 30, 2021, and raise it by $1 per year until reaching $15 per hour on September 30, 2026.  

4. Eleventh Circuit becomes third federal appeals court to switch to a majority of Republican-appointed judges since Trump took office

The court was previously a majority of Democrat-appointed judges. The 2nd and 3rd Circuits also changed from majority Democrat- to majority Republican-appointed judges during the Trump administration.  

5. Age to purchase tobacco in New York increases to 21

New York is among eight states with a Democratic trifecta to pass a tobacco age increase. Four states passed a tobacco age increase under a Republican trifecta, and six passed a tobacco age increase under divided government.
