Maintaining a Sane Holiday Budget
The Church and Clergy Financial Ministry (C2FM) is offering a webinar called Maintaining Budget Sanity during the Holidays on December 5 at 2:00 p.m. Giving is a special part of the Christmas tradition. However, the process can lead to overspending and later regrets. The intense marketing and carefully planned efforts by retailers contribute to the pressure, as does cultural expectations and norms. On this webinar, MU Human Environmental Sciences Assistant Extension Professor Graham McCaulley will engage participants in a discussion on the behavioral economics around holiday spending, and strategies to balance the pressures of the season. Topics include:
- How the season is often framed
- Recognizing behavioral economics manipulations designed to get you to spend more
- Considering what messages are being sent through gift giving
- Strategies to help you and your congregants feel successful
