‌John -- Governor Ron DeSantis continues to subject Floridians to a relentless onslaught of far-right and anti-democratic policies. Here’s what he’s been up to:

★ Despite saying Florida’s handling of the 2020 election “inspires confidence,” the legislature passed a DeSantis-backed bill that creates a new “election police force.”
★ Today, DeSantis approved a 15-week abortion ban which will severely restrict access to reproductive healthcare and in March, DeSantis signed the state’s homophobic “Don’t Say Gay” bill into law which threatens to silence the LGBTQ+ community.
★ We just learned that the legislature is handing map-drawing back to DeSantis after he vetoed their first congressional map for protecting too many Black opportunity districts!

Ron DeSantis is showing a shocking amount of disregard for human and voting rights in Florida just to advance his own presidential ambitions. This headline succinctly sums up the situation:

We’ve got so much more work to do in Florida and across the country to secure fair elections in 2022 and throughout the decade. We’ll pressure legislators to defeat the DeSantis map until the very last opportunity and mobilize our volunteer network to hold map manipulators accountable in this year’s election if he manages to force a gerrymander through.

The blueprint in Florida -- and everywhere -- will be unique to that state. That’s why it’s so important that we fund our full state-specific strategy to fight gerrymandering and voter suppression.
