Friend,
We just found out that people affiliated with AIPAC are fundraising for Rashida’s opponent in this year’s midterm elections.
The most powerful U.S. lobby group for uncritical support of Israel’s government, AIPAC has targeted Rashida in the past because she supports justice and human rights for all people—including Palestinians.
Now, AIPAC is ramping up for our midterm elections, fundraising nearly $3 million for candidates through a newly created PAC (political action committee) and $10 million through a new super PAC. And they’re likely coming for Rashida again.
Just a few weeks ago, AIPAC PAC endorsed 37 Republicans who tried to overturn 2020’s election, and who have since justified January 6th’s white supremacist insurrection. (Remember how that crowd wore and flew Nazi symbols?)
It’s ironic but not new for AIPAC to align with people who spread antisemitic and racist myths. They’ve even hosted Donald Trump at their annual conference.
Meanwhile, Rashida understands that we are safest in solidarity with one another. That’s why she’s helping build a world where we can all thrive and be free to be ourselves.
Will you chip into our campaign today to stand in solidarity with Rashida against attacks as she fights oppression everywhere?
By supporting right-wing extremists who’ve tried to sabotage our elections, AIPAC is at odds with President Biden‘s agenda for our country.
AIPAC’s support for insurrectionists is also out of step with a majority of Jewish Americans. Recent polls have found that Jewish voters view “domestic extremism and insurrection” as the biggest threat facing our country, with one poll finding that “nearly all Jewish voters are either very concerned (54 percent) or somewhat concerned (36 percent) about antisemitism.”[1]
Additionally, this same poll from the Jewish Electorate Institute finds that voting rights “is the second most important issue cited [by Jewish voters], and 83 percent say they are concerned about the laws passed in Florida and Georgia.”
As Passover begins this Friday night, Jewish people across the country and the world will celebrate freedom from oppression.
Rashida stands in solidarity, fighting oppression, working closely with Jewish community leaders and groups such as IfNotNow and Jewish Voice for Peace Action, which are building movements for justice and equality.
Here's what JVP Action PAC's political director Beth Miller said about Rashida when endorsing her for this year's election:
"It is rare to find a member of Congress who will truly fight tirelessly for the health and safety of their constituents as well as for the lives and well-being of people beyond our own borders who are being harmed by our foreign policy. But Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib knows that none of us are free until all of us are free.
Whether it's fighting for clean water from Detroit to Gaza, or to stop the unjust and brutal imprisonment of children on our borders or in the West Bank, she is relentless in the struggle for the rights and dignity of all people—no exceptions.”
We all deserve to be free and safe. And we need political leaders who understand how white supremacy threatens ALL of us.
Will you show Rashida you have her back as she faces attacks for supporting justice and equality? Please donate what you can afford today.
