  • CfA Releases Documents Showing How Trump Admin Pulled Strings to Award Grant to Anti-Birth Control Group, Obria: On Thursday, CfA made public new documents shedding light on how officials at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services intervened to secure federal family planning funds, known as Title X funding, for Obria, an anti-abortion and anti-birth control group based in California. (Press Release, Documents )
  • Watchdog Calls for Criminal Investigation of Google VP for Potentially Lying to Congress about Company Blacklists: On Thursday, CfA asked the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, Subcommittee on the Constitution, to refer Karan Bhatia, Vice President for Government Affairs & Public Policy at Google, to the U.S. Department of Justice for investigation into whether Mr. Bhatia may have provided false testimony to the committee during a hearing concerning Google’s manipulation of search results. (Press Release, Letter )
  • Watchdog Releases Legal Filings Showing Americans United for Life Involved in Doctored Planned Parenthood Videos: On Monday, CfA published court documents revealing that Americans United for Life, a 48-year old national anti-abortion organization, advised the controversial anti-choice front group Center for Medical Progress in its release of deceptively edited videos designed to harm Planned Parenthood.   • Americans United for Life Aided Propaganda Campaign Against Planned Parenthood: Rewire.News reported on the legal filings CfA found that show Americans United for Life aided Center for Medical Progress in its smear campaign against Planned Parenthood. (Rewire.News, 11.20.19)
  • CfA's Call for Investigation of Karan Bhatia: CfA's request for investigation of Google Vice President Karan Bhatia for potentially lying to Congress was included in the Politico Morning Tech newsletter (Politico Morning Tech, 11.21.19)
  • Facebook and Google's Funding of Nonprofits: Bloomberg Law talked to CfA's Daniel Stevens about big tech's funding of advocacy groups in Washington and how these groups are trying to shape debates over privacy. (Bloomberg Law, 11.18.19)

  • Brooklyn Assemblywoman Sought $100k in Government Funding for a Non-Existent Think Tank: From the New York Post: "The state lawmaker elected to replace a politician busted for stealing Superstorm Sandy money has herself raised ethics questions — after trying to score $100,000 for a group that doesn’t exist".   • Tech As a Sewer of Bigotry: In a speech to the Anti-Defamation League, comedian Sacha Baron Cohen called social media "the greatest propaganda machine in history and the internet a "sewer of bigotry." (Anti-Defamation League, 11.21.19)
  • How a Beloved Clinic for Low-Income Women is Fighting to Stay Alive in the Trump Era: Public Health Solutions is one of the nearly 900 clinics that lost federal funding this year. Now it’s hanging by a thread. (Vox, 11.22.19)
