John, I have to share some truly awful news: Ron DeSantis just signed HB 5 – a bill which bans the right to choose, with no exceptions even for survivors of rape and incest.

I’m outraged, John, and I’m going to fight with every breath in my body to overturn this cruel and despicable law. I want to tell you more about my story and why I believe so strongly in a woman’s right to choose, but first I have to ask for your support in my grassroots campaign for Florida Governor. Can I count on you to chip in $5 to defeat Ron DeSantis?

I’m a mom, John. That’s how I approach every issue. Not as a politician seeking higher office, but as a mother.

I never take being a mom for granted. For me, it wasn’t an easy journey. Like so many women, I tried for many years to have a child, but ran into medical complications along the way.

During that difficult time, there was one pregnancy where all indicators pointed in the right direction. I let myself be a little hopeful, John...

I remember thinking: Finally, after so many tries, you’re pregnant, Annette.

It wasn’t until quite a few weeks later that we discovered it was an ectopic pregnancy. That meant the pregnancy wasn’t viable. My heart was broken, John.

Thank goodness, in the end, I was able to have my little girl, Sofia. (Well, she’s not so little anymore.)

I just can’t imagine having to go through that – then to have the state of Florida add even more obstacles. Ron DeSantis’ cruel anti-choice law does just that.

That’s one of the reasons I spoke out against it on the floor of the Florida Senate:

I’m asking you today to make a donation to my campaign. Ron DeSantis and the Republicans in the Florida Legislature are taking aim at women and girls and I simply cannot sit idly by.

So, can I count on you to chip in $5 to support my campaign and put an end to Ron DeSantis’ terrifying administration?
