Team,

This is chilling. Our policy experts here at the Center for Reproductive Rights have been tracking abortion rights in the United States for decades to understand what would happen if Roe v. Wade were overturned.

Take a look:

Protect Roe

Already, about half the states in the U.S. could take action immediately to ban abortion if Roe were overturned. The state of Mississippi has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to allow states to ban abortion in our case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization.

We have been preparing for this moment. Our reproductive rights hang in the balance and we must fight back. This is urgent, you can have 4X the impact defending abortion access when you make a gift today.

That's right. A generous Center supporter has pledged to MATCH every dollar you donate—$3 for every $1, up to $50,000—but only through April 30. Please make an urgently-needed gift of $35 or more RIGHT NOW to ensure we're prepared for any outcome.

The impact of the Supreme Court's decision could be devastating, but we don't need to wait to know what a world without the protections of Roe might look like. We just have to look at Texas, where a six-week abortion ban has been in effect for the past seven months, bringing almost all abortion access to an abrupt stop.

For decades, anti-abortion lawmakers have worked to push abortion care out of reach. Today, many states are abortion deserts and patients are forced to travel significant distances to access abortion care. Abortion restrictions have not only diminished the number of abortion providers, but have also created barriers that make it even harder to access care with the providers who remain—including laws requiring patients to make multiple trips to a provider or receive biased counseling in order to access care.

And anti-abortion lawmakers haven't stopped there. We're seeing an increasing number of states passing more and more extreme abortion bans in the hopes that the Supreme Court will overturn Roe, allowing these restrictions to go into effect. Just last week the Oklahoma state legislature passed a NEAR-TOTAL abortion ban—one of the most restrictive bans yet.

We're facing the greatest threat to abortion rights in the U.S. in a generation and we need you with us. These are our rights, and this is our fight. Make a gift of $35 or more today to have it MATCHED 4X to defend reproductive rights for all.

In solidarity,

Nancy Northup
