John: Harrisburg Senate Republicans — including two GOP candidates for Governor — voted to pass legislation to eliminate drop boxes yesterday.
This is a blatant attempt at voter suppression. Drop boxes were successfully used in Pennsylvania in 2020, and almost 40 states use them with no evidence of widespread fraud. Republicans are trying to make it harder to vote ahead of a critical election — fortunately, we have a Democratic Governor who is going to veto this bill and protect our rights.
This is just another example of exactly why we need to keep Pennsylvania in Democratic hands — and keep that veto pen. Can you chip in $5 now to keep control of the Governor’s veto pen? [[link removed]]
This legislation isn’t the only example of their blatant voter suppression tactics, John. In 2019, the Legislature passed a bipartisan bill to expand vote-by-mail and give people more time to register to vote ahead of Election Day — but now, Republicans want to gut it three years later.
After nearly 5.5 million ballots were cast using vote by mail — the same Republicans who voted for the law brought a lawsuit against it, arguing it was unconstitutional.
The 2020 general election was free, fair, transparent, and had the highest turnout in 60 years. But instead of working with Democrats to make our elections stronger and safer in Pennsylvania, Republicans would rather suppress the vote.
And John, the foundation of our democracy is access to the ballot box — and we can’t let Republicans take that away from us. Can you donate to my campaign today to make sure our rights are protected and Pennsylvania stays blue? [[link removed]]
Together, we’re going to defeat GOP voter suppression and expand access to the ballot box. But we need to keep Pennsylvania blue to protect our rights — which is why your support is so important.
