John —
This week is Black Maternal Health Week . Together, we must recognize the challenges that Black women face in our medical system and commit ourselves to finally eliminating racial injustices in maternal health care.
The maternal mortality rate in the United States has more than doubled since 1987 . And we know Black women are three to four times more likely to experience pregnancy-related deaths than White women.
This is a public health crisis . Full stop.
John, will you join me and demand action to address racial disparities in maternal health care? It’s long past time we made Black maternal health a top priority. [[link removed]]

In the wealthiest nation in the world, we still struggle to ensure access to high-quality maternal health care. And Black women bear the brunt of this injustice. It’s time to change this.
That’s why ending the racial inequities in maternal health care is a priority for me in Congress. I’m a proud member of the Black Maternal Health Caucus and I’ve signed on to support Rep. Lauren Underwood’s Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act. But I need you to join me in this fight:
Will you sign my petition demanding action to close the maternal health gap and save the lives of Black mothers in America? Black lives matter and Black moms matter – we must take action right away. [[link removed]]

Thank you, as always, for standing with me on this critical issue. Let’s keep fighting for equality and justice for all Americans – together.
