Last week, the Biden Administration decided to rescind the Title 42 Order issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which permits the immediate expulsion of illegal immigrants who attempt to cross the southern border.

This dangerous and reckless decision is being made amidst alarming reports that the Administration is preparing for a surge of 170,000 illegal immigrants who will attempt to enter the United States if Title 42 is rescinded. Other reports state that the Department of Homeland Security estimates up to 60,000 illegal immigrants are already waiting at the border in anticipation.

This authority has been crucial for Border Patrol as they work to counter the flow of illegal immigrants, so I am taking action to stop this disastrous decision. Last week, I led efforts and co-introduced legislation that would delay the end of Title 42 Authority.

This dire humanitarian crisis cannot continue, and I will work to keep Title 42 in place to stem the flow of dangerous illegal immigration at our southern border.
