Yesterday, we launched our first TV and digital ad buy to reach voters across North Carolina.
I’ll be honest: Going up on air this early wasn’t originally a part of the plan, but after talking it through with my team, I believed it was important to start reaching voters now.
And truthfully, I’ve learned that approach straight from Cheri. I’ve heard her say countless times that we cannot rely on the old playbook of waiting until right before Election Day to engage with the voters of North Carolina.
And, you know what, I agree. You don’t go from Public Defender to the first African American woman to serve as Chief Justice of North Carolina by playing it safe.
Spending money on ads this early undoubtedly carries risk. But, Cheri and I made the bet that if we reached out and explained why it was so important, enough people would come through and help us fill the budget gap. So can we count on you?
This decision was critical to keep us on the path to victory in November.
